Fyra åtta är ett resultat av ett långsiktigt solodansprojekt där det koreografiska materialet bygger på 480 olika tidningsbilder med stor variation, insamlade av Jukka Korpi under hans resor i tio olika länder, under cirka tio års tid. I föreställningen är bilderna översatta till rörelse. Koreografin blir en slags metamorfosisk resa där man passerar igenom en mängd olika positioner, och där man ständigt, på ett par sekunder, förvandlar sig från en karaktär till en annan.
Siffran 48 är genomgående i hela verket, men titelvalet är också ett uttryck för ett behov av en titel som är relativt neutral, som inte ger en mängd förväntningar och associationer i förväg, utan låter dansen och koreografin tala för sig självt.
Föreställningen hade urpremiär på Korpilombolo Nattfestival 2024. I samband med föreställningen på Atalante hålls ett konstnärssamtal med koreografen Jukka Korpi.

Four eight is a result of a long-term solo dance project where the choreographic material is based on 480 pictures from newspapers, collected by Jukka Korpi during his journeys to ten different countries during a period of ten years. In the performance, these pictures have been translated into movement. The choreography becomes a kind of metamorphic journey though a variety of positions, as you transform from one character to another.
The number 48 is present throughout the work, but the choice of title is also an expression of a need for a title that is relatively neutral, that does not give to many expectations and associations in advance, but lets the dance and choreography speak for itself.
The performance had its world premiere at the Korpilombolo Night Festival 2024. In connection with the performance at Atalante, an artist talk with choreographer Jukka Korpi will be held.
