Viva Vocal Ensemble
Vocalising Space utforskar idén om vokali tet i samtida vokalmusik, det vill säga egen skaperna hos röstens stämma och tonande karaktär, samt vokalitet i relation till den visuella sfären av lyssnande. Med utgångs punkten i den mångfacetterade rösten och den experimentella musiken presenterar Viva Vocal Ensemble verk av kompositö rerna Arvid Kraft, Joshua Wat och Casey Moir. Musikaliska tolkningar av till exempel gestik och ord, klingande gutturala uttryck, intrikat mikrotonalitet och en dekonstruktion av vokaltekniska konventioner används i en intuitiv förening av röst, kropp och rörelse i tid och rum.
Med hela rummet som spelplan uppstår en omväxlande, omfamnande och spatial lyssningsupplevelse som ständigt förändrar ljudets riktning, placering, hastighet, närhet och bana i rummet. Var man befinner
sig avgör från var och när man uppfattar ljuden samt ljudens intensitet – allt detta påverkar det individuella perspektivet på upplevelsen.

Vocalising Space plunges into the idea of vocality in contemporary vocal music. It explores the wide sound spectrum of the voice together with the idea of purposefully extending vocality into the visual sphere of listening. With a firm foundation in the multifaceted voice and experimental music, Viva Vocal Ensemble will present works by composers Arvid Kraft, Joshua Wat and Casey Moir. Gestural and linguistic expressions, guttural soundings, intricate microtonality, and deconstructed vocal convention are interpreted in the establishment of an irrevocable connection between voice, body, and movement in time and space.
Using the whole space for the perfor mance, a fluctuating, immersive and spatial listening experience emerges that constantly changes the direction, placement, momentum, and trajectory
of sound. One’s position in the room decides from where and when sound is perceived, as well as the intensity of it. All this affects the individual experience.
