och görs till användbara föremål.

THE VALLEY OF THE WORLD är ett nytt kapitel i ibodies scenkonstnärliga utforskning av rädslans olika dimensioner. Verket är deras tredje i raden på samma tema, efter BARMHÄRTIGHETEN – som fokuserade på rädslan för den Andre inom familjens sfär – och DEMOCRACY, som behandlade frågor om auktoritet, frihet och rädsla inom kollektivet.
THE VALLEY OF THE WORLD är ett verk som har vuxit fram ur själens ambivalens och det osynligas värld. Det är ett verk som på ett intimt sätt behandlar tvivel och nödvändigheten av hopp mitt i världens förtvivlan. Den poetik som utforskas i verket härrör från en vision om teatern som ett radikalt, autonomt språk. Ett språk som inte är underordnat en yttre agenda utan som kan ifrågasätta scenen som en primär plats för närvaro och medvetenhet. Genom en essentiell och formmässig estetik utforskar verket världens dal som en plats för tystnad, förvandling och skönhet.
ibodies är baserade i Göteborg, och drivs av Anmar Taha och Josephine Gray. Sedan 2009 har deras verk spelats i Europa, Maghreb, Mashriq och Asien.
Föreställningen är framtagen genom residens på Teatro del Lemming/Teatro Studio som en del av Centro di Residenza del Veneto samt Danscentrum Väst.

of eternal inexhaustible power
is to go back again to the natural.
Natural wood is cut up
and made into useful things.
Wise souls are used
to make into leaders.
Just so, a great carving
is done without cutting.
THE VALLEY OF THE WORLD is a new chapter in ibodies’ theatrical exploration dedicated to the realms of fear. The piece is their third instalment on the same theme following BARMHÄRTIGHETEN focussing on the fear of the Other within the family and DEMOCRACY which dealt with the question of authority, freedom and fear within the collective.
THE VALLEY OF THE WORLD is a piece that has arisen from the ambivalence of the spirit and the world of the unseen. It is a work that intimately deals with the notions of doubt and the necessity of hope while in the throes of fear of the World. The poetics explored in the piece stems from a vision of theatre as a radical, autonomous language – one that is not subservient to an external agenda, but capable of questioning the stage as a primary space of presence and awareness. Through an essential and visionary aesthetic, the work explores the image of the valley as a space of silence, transformation and beauty.
ibodies are based in Gothenburg, Sweden, led by Anmar Taha and Josephine Gray. Their work has been presented at venues and festivals across Europe, Maghreb, Mashriq and Asia since 2009.
The performance is developed in residency at Teatro del Lemming/Teatro Studio as a part of Centro di Residenza del Veneto, as well as Danscentrum Väst.
